01/24/2005: "Wana Buy A $1900 Vacuum Cleaner?"

brianr01 (38k image)
My nephew Brian has a new job...

He does demonstrations for Kirby. As his practice demonstration was coming to a close, I was thinking, "Man, this is a great vacuum cleaner, I just can't see paying a few hundred for one at this point in time." Then I asked him how much. You read the title of the post right.

camera/film: Horseman LX 4x5, Polaroid Type 55 P/N.
lighting: One Mole Richardson 2K Junior Solarspot as the main light with a LTM Pepper 650 watt as the side light.

Heh. I'm thinking of buying a $500 vacuum, which seems like a splurge!

That's twice as much as I have ever paid for a car.

A $1900 Vacuum Cleaner !!!!! WOW that vacuum better be a feat of marvel or made of gold. On another note ... I've was wondering if you could drop by my website and take a look at some of my portraiture shots (http://www.mydepiction.com/photoblog/archives/000039.html ) that I did recently. I will probably never be as good as you but will appreciate any critiques or tips you could give me on how I could improve.

Cheers
Andy

It would have to suck the fibers out of the carpet before I would pay that much!

I just came across your blog somewhat randomly -- you posted a comment in a different blog, and I was quite startled to see someone else posting comments with my name on them! -- and so I looked back through your archives, enjoying the break from work and looking for a place to post a sort of "Hello!" comment.

Unfortunately, once I found the perfect place (5/25/2004, where you comment on how rare your name is), I noticed that you don't have comments enabled in the old messages. Ah, well, I'll post here instead to say "Not so rare that you won't find another somewhere on the internet!"

Anyhow, I did want to say that I quite enjoy the photoblog aspects of your blog -- it's nice to see just how much craft (and art) distinguishes "real" photography from what I do with my 35mm Canon, and to see the little bits of thought process behind it from your comments.

Let's play word games and see how many comments we can rack this thing up to!

Anyway, thatnks Brooks and Dar and Alli and Jeff and Andy and rock grrrl and Paula (UV).

He looks like a boxer or a Marine, not a vacuum salesman. I'd be afraid to turn him down. wink

Can't believe the word "suck" didn't get used in there somewhere. Ooops, i guess it did. Based on the haircut, does he use the Flowbee™ attachment set on #1 (see flowbee.com)?

RE: Alli's blog comment; Brooks, I am SO getting you a Pimp Cup for your next birthday. First line: BIG, second: SHMOOP DOG.
And you can only eat Dreyer's Grand Light Cookie Dough Ice Cream from it!

re: Meghans comment to my comment:
