What?

Wow. It's been a long time since we've added to this blog for Lily. Well, It's a new year and Lily had her first real Christmas. She's finally at the age where she kinda gets the whole Santa thing and it was a lot of fun for all of us to see her get excited. She helped Mommy make cookies to leave for Santa and also left out some carrot sticks for Rudolf. Next year Lily will have a little brother to share in the Christmas fun.

Sorry for the silence

Wow, it's been a long time since we've posted here. So sorry. Anyway, here's the latest stuff. Lily is a weed. She's practically ready for high school, well, except for the whole diaper thing. I mean, I guess she could have a teacher change it a couple times a day, but I don't think that would work out too well. She's talking up a storm and a lot of the time we actually can tell what she's talking about. She's way better around new people these days and warms up especially quick around people she has met a few times. After about three minutes or so, she was trying to tickle Brian S's knee while we were at Terry's studio the other day and she hadn't seen Brian in a couple months. That morning when I asked her if she wanted to go for a walk, she said "Go see Terry?" She has taken to the stroller again after not liking it for a while there. This is good news for an old guy like me that gets a little tired trying to keep her close. That's it for now. I need to put up some recent pictures. I'll try to do that this weekend. Here's a little teaser. Lily on the right with her friend Tiana.

Lily Santa

Here's an out take from the Christmas card shoot. You can see the card HERE. It's been a while since the last update, but with the holidays and the studio being busy and Marisa's research paper, we've been swamped. Lily is talking more and more every week and, although we don't always know what the heck she's talking about, it's quite cute. The Dora the Explorer obsession is in full swing and she has more toys than she know what to do with after Christmas. We need to do some serious toy rotating soon. Out with the old, in with the new!

2!!

I can't believe that my baby girl is 2 already. It seems like yesterday that my precious baby came out looking beautiful and perfect. She is doing so much now. She knows her abc's and has quite the repertoire of nursery rhymes that she can sing. Some favorites are "Wheels on the Bus" and "I Love You". She really loves school now and loves Auntie Marjorie and Martha. Today when Daddy forgot to put her shoes on and had to turn back to go home, Lily got mad because they were leaving school. We celebrated her birthday with Grandma and Grandpa, Jeff, and Aunt Meghan. We were going to go to the zoo with her friend Kate but it rained so Kate came over to play. We have sang "Happy Birthday" several times within the last few days so Lily gets that it was a special day today. She can even say she's two! We videotaped her at exactly 7:11 this evening and we'll put some excerpts on the site soon. She is growing too fast. Time to think about a sibling??...

We took some new pictures of Lily in the studio today. Keep checking back on the web site. I'll try to ad them this week. This is just a little taster.
Update. There are 15 new pictures in the "Just Lily" Gallery on the Lily Site. You can use the link to the right to get there.

Daycare!

A lot is happening right now. The biggest news is that Lily has started daycare for the first time. I've spent the last couple of weeks getting her ready by taking her to "Auntie Marjorie's" and getting to know the staff and other kids. There are about 10 other kids and 3 adults. Yesterday (Aug. 30th) was her first day by herself. It was really hard on both of us!! She has been having major separation anxieties with me so I knew there would be many tears. I left with her crying and of course I didn't let her see me crying. They said she didn't cry for too long and that she had a pretty good day. She even took a good nap. We are having her take the lion that Daddy got her from the zoo to keep her company. When I picked her up, Lion was covered in spaghetti from lunch so I'm assuming she carried him around all day! She'll be at daycare 3 days a week and home with Daddy the other two days. I'm back to work full-time next week teaching first grade. I'm looking forward to working but not being away from Lily!

Lily is talking a mile a minute now! Sometimes I understand her but other times she really gets on a roll about something and I don't understand a word she is saying. I wish I did because she sure has a lot to say about it whatever it is! She is growing like a weed and is really thinning out. She is in a size 7 shoe and is wearing a 2X in clothes. As a typical girl, she loves to put on her shoes. The only problem is that she won't let anyone help her put them on. If she gets them half way on and I try to help her, she throws them off and starts all over again. She is really becoming independent (little stinker)!

I can't believe she will be 2 in a month and a half!!!

Dohwah

Lily's obsession with Dora the Explorer has gotten out of hand. She has a few favorite expressions from the show, one of them being "Oh Man!" This is what Swiper says if you need to know.
