05/19/2004: "Are you sure this is a public school?"
My wife is a teacher at an elementary school in Encino, California. Yesterday, we went to her open house and it's so weird to see a parking lot full of luxury cars at a public LAUSD school. It looked like a Range Rover/Mercedes dealership. The school is located in a neighborhood of small million dollar homes (location location location) and is filled with the children of a few celebrities and other movie and television professionals. The only ones I can think of off the top of my head are Macy Gray, Mary J. Blige, Jeri Ryan and Matt LeBlanc (well, his wife's kids). Oh, and many of the Jackson kids went there as well, including Janet (it's right up the street from the house they all grew up in. The place was a zoo! I had to give the hairy eyeball to more than one little shit that almost ran over Lily on a tricycle on the kindergarten playground. Anyway, I'm not sure where I was going with this, but I guess I just wanted to mention how surreal it was.

Surreal eh? Just remember they all put their Briefs, boxers, bikinis,or thongs just as you and your wife do when wearing them.

I know, but it just seems like they would send their kids to private schools. This school is what they call a "Distinguished School" though, so it's a good one. http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/sr/cs/ap/distingyear.asp?year=2004

its how they try to keep their kids lives normal as possible.... at least until "driver" comes and picks them up after school.

CA is one big Mercedes parking lot, which I'm trying to figure out---it must be all for "show" right? I mean, obviously, there's wealthy people out there, but COME. ON.

I don't know if any of her kids have drivers this year (most likely because she is teaching kindergarten), but I do remember a few years back when she taught fifth grade. She had a couple kids who had drivers drop them off and pick them up. Oh, and a few nannies too. Megs, how come I don't get to drive one then. Money sucks!
