We went to the zoo today. It was Lily's first time and she liked it, mostly. It was one of those zoo visits that we all have where many of the animals you really want to see were nowhere to be found. No tigers, no snow leopards, no rhinos, no giant tortoises. Lily's favorites were the giraffes and the "leaping lemurs" or as any of you with kids call them, Zoboomafoo.

Other websites I neglect.
I just wanted to mention a couple new links over there on the right. They are two pages on my site that get visitors from around the world. First is my music list. You can tell a lot about a person through their music, or not. Second is my bouldering site Stoney Point (that's a form of rock climbing for the uninitiated). Stoney Point is a local climbing area near my home. That's all for now.
P.S. I almost forgot the fan site I made for the obscure early 80's band Inflatable Boy Clams.

My three bottle allocation.
If you're not into wine at all, this may sound ridiculous. So I was told a long while back by my friend Jeff that Helen Turley was working with a new winery and that if you wanted to get any you needed to be on the waiting list. Well, I just got my letter the other day from Blankiet to order my three bottles of the 2001 Merlot. The letter starts out "Dear Patient Friends (Those of you who have been on our waiting list for years!)" Here is Helen's tasting note: "On the nose, subtle and refined bouquet showing floral (violets and narcissus) and mineral notes; with air, opening to complex scents of anise, small red fruits, and new glove leather; on the palate, round supple entry, vibrant and dense but not astringent, expanding to a complex lingering finish." Wow! All this for only $225.00 for the three bottles (before shipping). Anyone wanna share my order? Oh, and yes, wine people do talk like that! I'm sure my notes would read more like "Hey, that tastes great!"

Snobby drunks can skip this post.
Those who know me know that I appreciate a good bottle of wine and/or Champagne. Those who know me better know that I also love me a good soda. On your everyday sorta level, I like Dr. Pepper, but I also keep my studio stocked (as my clients will attest) with Stewart's Orange 'n Cream Soda. Try it you'll like it. Anyway, I just returned from the local beverage store with twelve different bottles of root beer to sample at my leisure. If I make a new discovery, I'll let you know. With names like Rat Bastard and Hank's Premium, there has to be a few gems in the bunch.

Goodbye for now?
One of my favorite bloggers is calling it quits. It seems that Jennifer of Plastic Passions has nothing left to say (I beg to differ, but that's neither here nor there). Anyway, although I love reading political and religious arguments on blogs like here and here, my favorite blogs are those that are slices of life from people that have a unique way of describing what may just be an ordinary occurrence in their day. Jennifer is smart and down right funny (read just a few posts in her archives) and I hope she just moves to another blog like last time.
