Bloggity Blog Blog Bloggy Blogs and stuff
Wow! It seems that Brooks is on a blog-once-a-day kick right now. Anyway, I wanted to talk a little about two separate blog phenomena I've noticed around here.

1) Very few of the many friends, that I know have internet connections, read my blog. Well, if they're reading it, they certainly aren't commenting. As diverse as my post subjects are these days, I'm sure you guys could comment on something.

2) It seems that I read a lot of blogs from other parts of the country or world, but a disproportionate amount of them are from Chicago. plastic passion, iseemonsters, and Write on Megs are three that I like a lot. There have been others too, but these are the ones on my blog roll.

Maybe this IS a photoblog.
bubbles
While shooting for Nailpro magazine today, I accidentally made some strange bubbles in the glycerin, water and food coloring mixture we were using in one of the shots. After we were done, I added a little soap to make these bubbles. The whole group of bubbles is only about an inch wide. It's like a tiny Atlantis. Well, if the water had a lot of algae in it. Oh... and Happy Anniversary Shmoopy.

America's Finest News Source!
Regular readers of The Onion will love this Wired News story about The Onion titled "Onion Taken Seriously, Film at 11." It just kills me to see how stupid people will believe anything they read and not even consider that it might be satire. As the story says, even MSNBC reporter Deborah Norville isn't immune. I especially love the quote from the editor at The Onion, Carol Kolb, about all of the email they receive from the stupid people who read but don't get the jokes. "We don't respond to anyone, really, ever," she says. "We just laugh and laugh and laugh."

Oh... That's right. I'm a photographer
I guess it's been a while since I've posted a photograph here. This is a picture I took for my wife Marisa as a birthday gift earlier this month (final gift was matted and framed of course). Our daughter's name is Lily, hence the lily.

Heresy!
An interesting day in history. Today in 1633, Galileo was convicted of heresy for "holding the belief" that the Earth revolved around the Sun. This article says, "The Church had decided the idea that the Sun moved around the Earth was an absolute fact of scripture that could not be disputed, despite the fact that scientists had known for centuries that the Earth was not the center of the universe."
Also, "We order that by a public edict the book of Dialogues of Galileo Galilei be prohibited, and We condemn thee to the prison of this Holy Office during Our will and pleasure; and as a salutary penance We enjoin on thee that for the space of three years thou shalt recite once a week the Seven Penitential Psalms."
This my friends is the stuff 'separation of church and state' is made of.

Nick and Jessica
Well, I just watched the Nick and Jessica Variety Hour on ABC. No, really. It was oh so cheesy and the jokes weren't all that funny, but I did sit through the whole thing. I'm wondering if the show did well. See, I'm not a fan of their music and Jessica's grand mal gestures while singing make me a little uncomfortable. I think middle America liked it though. We'll soon find out, but it seems to me that it has a lot of what they like. Generic pretty voices singing the standards, an odd mixture of celebrity guests, and Jessica's boobs. Lets talk a little about her boobs. The show was definitely a showcase for Jessica's boobs. Every skit or song featured them prominently to the point where they made no effort to downplay them no matter what the skit or song was about. Some skits were about, well, her boobs, like the Dolly Parton Kenny Rogers skit/song and the Saloon skit. I have a feeling that they may be the only reason I flip past this show and stay a while in the future although I doubt I'll ever watch it from beginning to end again. Cheers, and keep up the boob work!
