01/28/2005: "More Type 55 Polaroid"
This image is one of the few that cross over to both my beauty portfolio and my portrait portfolio...
I showed a different shot from this same session here a while back. I'm always torn between which of the two I like best. Right now it's this one. I just made an 11x14 print for my beauty portfolio and after working on the image in Photoshop for a while today, I've come to love it again. This is Lindy Gamble, I wish she lived closer by and I could take her picture more often.
camera/film: Horseman LX 4x5, Schneider 360mm 6.8 Symmar-S, Polaroid Type 55 Pos/Neg lighting: Mole 1K Junior Solar-Spot behind a 4x4 ft. diffusion scrim. (more technical info at the older post linked above)

Yanno that saying (and I'm paraphrasing here) "The eyes are the windows to the soul"?
This would be a good photograph to show what exactly that means.
She may not be thinking a thing except "When's lunch?", however, you'd never guess it by this photo.
Thank you so much for sharing.

Ooo, I'd love to see your series of Type 55 in person. Banding sucks, eh?

I'm not sure if you're referring to the mottled look of this shot when you mention banding or not. If you are, then it's purely on purpose. I sokmetimes leave the Type 55 Polaroid negative on the lightbox to dry so that the chemicals crystalize. Actually, most of my Polaroid is done that way. It's a hit and miss proposition, but when it works, it works great. I have left negs overnight only to find that they crystalized in a strange way and then soaked them in Sodium Sulfite solution for a couple hours to clear them though. I did this on my last shot (Mike). I'll be posting the results soon.

I love this shot and I am so jealous of your camera and equipment. Makes me sad to be poor! Keep up the good work!
