07/01/2004: "Watching her do it tires me out."
This is a picture of Dar doing a Mandala Sand Painting in her studio in Las Vegas. If you've ever seen Tibetan Monks do this, you know how amazing it is. Monks usually do these as a group, but Dar has been working on this one for over a year BY HERSELF. It's about 4 ft. square and when she's done she'll sweep it up (there's a little bit more to it than that, but you should ask her). When I'm in Vegas and she's working on it with a crowd watching, I like to walk in and say "Aren't you finished with that thing yet?" It's called "art heckling" you should try it some time (probably best if you know the artist). Oh, check out her newly reinvented blog HERE and leave her some comments... Pronto!

That is truly amazing. Judging by what I can see, I'm quite surprised that she's only worked on it for about a year.
I have a more simplistic acrylic painting of a screaming woman that took seven months for me to complete. My current work is in it's third month and still far from completion.
And, of course, the photos is excellent, as always. I always enjoy a healthy dose of eye candy!

When did you take that? I love how you caught the movement...you are so good.

I shot that at the last First Fridays that I went to. You must have been in a trance because I showed it to you in the back of the camera when I shot it.

Lolito, this is Dar's second Mandala and yes it will be swept up in a ceremony for a friend (destroyed sounds kinda harsh). You can see pictures of both sand paintings on her site which is linked in the original post above.
